ASSP India Professional Development Conference
American Society of Safety Professionals – India Chapter conducted the Professional Development Conference on 28 & 29 April 2022 in connection with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. It was held in National Institute for Construction Management & Research, Hyderabad. ICOH Scientific Committee on Construction Industry, ICOH Scientific Committee on Rural Health and Indian Association of Productivity, Quality and Reliability collaborated for this Conference along with NICMAR, Hyderabad. The theme of the Conference was “Solutions for Safer & Healthier Work places – Leadership, Innovation & Technology”
Dr. Krishna Nirmalya Sen, President of ASSP India chapter & Chair of ICOH, Scientific Committee on Occupational Health in Construction industry moderated the sessions in the Conference. Dr. R.K. Elangovan, Director General, DGFASLI, India delivered the inaugural speech. Dr. Shyam Pingle, ICOH, Board Member and Dr. Sashikala Chandrasekar, Chair of ICOH Scientific Committee on Rural Health were among the speakers in the inaugural session.
SC Rural Health session was on 28 April which was chaired by Dr. Sashikala Chandrasekar. There were four speakers in this session. Dr. Stefan Mandic Rajcevic from University of Belgrade spoke on the topic – Teaching Health and Safety to the Next Generation in Agriculture in and out of COVID-19. Prof. Pierluigi Cocco from University of Manchester spoke on the topic – Handle with Care: Preventive Action for Hassle-free Pesticide Use. The other two speakers were Ms. Debbie Lalrinawmi who spoke on women’s economic participation in Mizoram and Mr. Gaurav Awasthi spoke on development of low-cost filter for safe drinking water. All these important topics generated lot of interest and interaction from the delegates.
